Grass/Forage Finished Bison
Our forage finished bison are grazed on a mix of tame and native parkland pasture. They have been fed a mixed forage ration through the winter following a summer on pasture last year.
Our guarantee is that any product labeled 'Grass Finished' has gone through a complete winter season, followed by a full summer season, on dry or green forages (no grain/pulses).
Bison finished on pasture forage tend to have a lipid (fatty acid) profile that supports good cardiovascular health. Forage finished bison meat displays increased levels of Omega 3 fatty acids, CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) and beta-carotene.
A dietary Omega 6:3 ratio below 4:1 is generally considered to be 'heart friendly' by cardiovascular health specialists. This promotes increased circulating n-3 LC-PUFA which studies indicate may reduce risk of cardiovascular disease and autoimmune inflammatory responses.
Bison finish leaner than beef but with similar fatty acid ratios.

Forage Bison 2.7:1
Mixed Ration Bison 3.1:1
Grain Fed Bison >7:1
